From Rock Bottom to Mastery: Isabella Meadows’ NLP Journey

Dr Adriana James, co-developer of the NLP training.

Isabella Meadows is 22 years old, but her NLP transformation journey began at rock bottom.

She’s already lived through something most people spend decades avoiding: hitting rock bottom and actually doing something about it.

Her journey into NLP didn’t start with ambition or a five-year plan. It started because she had nowhere else to go.

“I was going through a really, really hard time. I had hit rock bottom.”

What happened next changed everything.

A Chance Encounter at the Right Time

At 20, Isabella walked into a personal development center. She wasn’t looking for NLP specifically. She was just looking for a way forward. Something that would help her make sense of what she was going through.

“I’ve been interested my whole life in goal setting and why people do what they do,” Isabella said.

That curiosity had always been there. Even as a kid, she’d wondered why people made the choices they made. Why some people seemed to move through life with clarity and purpose while others – including herself at that point – felt stuck and lost.

Someone at the center mentioned NLP, which Isabella had been looking into at the time as well. Within a week, through a series of conversations that felt almost accidental, Isabella found out there was an NLP Practitioner training starting the next day.

So she jumped in.

“The NLP Practitioner training was starting the next day… so I jumped in.”

That was January, 2023.

She had no idea what she was getting into. She just knew she needed something to change. And she was willing to try anything that might help.

From Effect to Cause

Isabella started the training. She was in the middle of emotional upheaval – struggling in a relationship, feeling completely out of control of her own life, convinced that things were just happening to her and there was nothing she could do about it.

What NLP gave her wasn’t just tools. It was agency.

“I went from being at the effect of life to realizing, wow… I can actually be at the cause.”

That shift – understanding that she wasn’t just reacting to life but could actually shape it – changed everything.

Before NLP, she felt like life was something that happened to her. Circumstances dictated her mood. Other people’s choices determined her options. She was along for the ride, trying to manage the damage as it came.

After NLP, she understood that while she couldn’t control what happened, she could absolutely control how she responded. How she interpreted events. How she chose to move forward.

She wasn’t powerless. She’d never been powerless. She just hadn’t known how to access her own agency.

A few weeks after finishing Practitioner training, she started a business.

“I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I wanted to help people.”

That’s what happens when you go from effect to cause. You stop waiting for permission. You stop waiting to feel ready. You just start.

Going Deeper: Master Practitioner

By the end of 2024, Isabella knew she wanted more than the basics. She wanted to actually master this. To understand it at a level where she could help people navigate the kind of pain she’d experienced, and do it with skill and precision, not just good intentions.

She applied for Master Practitioner training with the Tad James Company and dove in.

What stood out most wasn’t just what she learned, it was how she learned it.

“Dr Adriana is so congruent with how she teaches and what she says, ” Isabella said.

Congruence. That word gets thrown around a lot in personal development circles, but Isabella experienced what it actually means. Watching someone teach these principles while living them. Not as performance, but as natural expression.

Isabella wasn’t just following a script. She was learning how to think. How to adapt. How to handle moments when things don’t go according to plan, which, in real sessions with real people, can happen often.

“Some of the best notes I took were during Q&A. One question would turn into ten minutes of teaching.”

Those unscripted moments where someone asks a question and the trainer goes deeper, explaining not just what to do but why, and what to do when the technique doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to. That’s where real learning happens.

That’s the difference between knowing techniques and actually understanding the structure of change.

The Moment Everything Shifted

During Master Practitioner, Isabella experienced a Parts Integration demonstration with Dr. Adriana. Not just watching it, she was part of it.

“It’s not just following scripts. You have to understand what you’re trying to achieve and what to do when things don’t go according to plan.”

That session led to a breakthrough she didn’t even know she needed.

“I let go of old limiting beliefs, old decisions, inner conflicts I didn’t even know I had.”

She’d thought she’d dealt with her past. She’d done therapy. She’d worked on herself. She’d processed things.

But this was different. This wasn’t insight. This was release.

Through Time Line Therapy®, she finally understood what real emotional release looks like. Not managing emotions better. Not reframing them or thinking about them differently. Actually letting them go.

“It felt like putting down a heavy sack I’d been carrying for years.”

And once she put it down, she realized how much energy she’d been using just to carry it. Energy that was now available for everything else.

You Can’t Go Back

Here’s what Isabella says now:

“Once you learn NLP, you can never go back to the way you used to live.”

And she doesn’t mean that in some dramatic, overstated way. She means it literally.

Confidence doesn’t stay in one area of your life. Once you understand how your mind creates confidence, how you can access it, anchor it and build it, you can’t pretend you don’t know that.

Clarity doesn’t just help you at work. Once you know how to get clear on what you actually want versus what you think you should want, that clarity shows up everywhere.

Communication skills don’t only matter in coaching sessions. Once you understand how people process information differently, you can’t unhear it. You notice it in every conversation.

Everything shifts.

And that’s exactly why NLP isn’t just a personal development course. It’s a life skill that changes how you show up everywhere. In relationships. At work. With yourself. In moments of crisis. In everyday decisions.

A Mission That Matters

Isabella’s vision now is clear: she wants to work with teenage girls.

“If I had these tools at 17, my life would have looked very different.”

She wants to give young women the self-awareness, emotional resilience, and sense of purpose that she had to fight to find on her own. The tools that help you understand yourself before life convinces you that you’re broken or not enough or need to be fixed.

“This work literally saved my life.”

And she understands what comes with that responsibility.

“NLP is powerful. It can be used for immense good – or harm. That’s why I believe everyone should learn it.”

Not so everyone becomes a practitioner. But so everyone understands how their mind works. How influence works. How change actually happens.

Because when you understand these things, you can’t be as easily manipulated. You can’t be as easily swayed by marketing or peer pressure or your own unconscious patterns.

You become the author of your own life.

If You’re Wondering Where to Start

Isabella’s journey began with one decision: showing up to NLP Practitioner training.
