Here is the basic honest truth: most of the people get into NLP because they want some sort of power and control over areas of their lives where something is missing. Or because they feel there is more to “it” than what they know already. They are drawn to neuro-linguistics, they take a course or a training (or read books or information on the web), learn the skills, maybe make a fast website and then sit back and watch while they wait for “it” to happen. There are a lot of individuals who do this and become very successful. But what if you want more than a client here and there, and some extra income? Can NLPCoaching really be leveraged to produce a worthwhile and long term successful career?
The quick answer is that yes, you are able to make NLP Coaching your long term and sustainable career. You only need to apply the processes you learn from this field and then to put them into action. But here is the wrinkle; many times the problem is HOW to put them into action.
Here is a little known fact: The procedures, processes and strategies you learn that are useful to build something quickly, are not that different from the methods and systems you will use to build long term profits.
Perhaps one of the most significant things that you need to recognize is that, when you want to build a long term and reliable business in the field of neuro linguistic programming or coaching, first you have to admit that you don’t know everything there is to know. As dedicated as you are to your task, as much fun and reward you might be through your efforts, you should tell yourself, “yes, I really want to do this and I need to know more.”
Now, I am fully aware of the fact that nobody knows everything there is to know in the world. Nobody does! And if somebody tells you they know everything there is to know in a field, fire them!
Nor do I have a problem with the fact that I learn new things every day. Nor, of course, have I any qualms about the fact that there are many other fields of expertise where I am virtually uninformed.
But one thing we know well: how to make NLP, NLP Coaching, Time Line Therapy® and Hypnosis work every single time for the betterment of human lives. That we know well!
And I am also confident about this: there is no shame or embarrassment in asking questions when I need answers. This lesson of life was taught to me by an elderly gentleman neighbor when I grew up and I am very grateful to him for doing so.
