I was just a teacher. A teacher who wanted to make a difference to the children who walked into my classroom but at the end of the day, I was just a teacher. I wasn’t a superhero or celebrity that kids looked up to. I wasn’t someone who could fix their problems, and oh boy some of these kids had big, big issues that they had to deal with. The only thing that I thought that I could do, was to make them feel safe and special for a few hours of the day. That’s if, they managed to attend school at all. I was just a teacher.

I was just a teacher when by chance, I went along to an evening on “changing your life” and was introduced to the concepts of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy®, Hypnosis and NLP Coaching. It all sounded so perfect for what I wanted, but how could I transform someone’s life? After all, I was just a teacher.

A few months later I attended the NLP Practitioner Training with the most amazing and inspirational coaches and participants. My life was changing right in front of my eyes. I let go of my limiting beliefs, removed my emotional baggage, and set amazing new goals for myself. My biggest goal was to be a Master Practitioner of NLP, Time Line Therapy®, Hypnosis and NLP Coaching. This was a big goal for me, and I had doubts if I could do it. Just to make it harder for myself and to really test out if this stuff really worked, I decided that I would attend Master Prac in Las Vegas, not Australia! I inserted the goal of attending Las Vegas into my future time line using Time Line Therapy®.

Well, I was right. It didn’t work out how I had plannedâ€¦ It was better! Instead of just me going to Las Vegas, doing Master Prac by myself, my husband and three children came along to support me. We had never travelled outside of Australia as a family before, so this was huge. It then occurred to me that if I could get my family overseas, what else could I do? What else could I put into my future?

I was just a teacher but now I had some amazing life changing skills. I had a tool kit. I had personal resources to draw upon. I had a lot of work to do before I tried these new tools out on others. So I set to work on my hardest client yet, me. I had to let go of all the limiting beliefs that I believed about myself and what I was capable of. I had to reframe my world and start seeing everything around me, not from my perceived reality, but from a place of ultimate reality, a place where I could see the larger perspective of what was really going on. This is a scary place, an unexpected place, a wonderful welcoming place. A place where only being a teacher can open a world of possibilities.

This place of possibilities led me to my passion and do I dare say it, my purpose. As a special education teacher, I had always worked with special needs children, children with behavioural issues, children with learning difficulties and especially children with autism. With my new found tools, my years of experience working with children with autism, and my new perspective on everything, I left teaching! I was no longer just a teacher, I was following my heart and I was an Autism and Behaviour Specialist, part of a multidiscipline team, working with children with autism and their families.

I now use NLP, Time Line Therapy®, Hypnosis and NLP Coaching every day, and I don’t just work with children with autism anymore. I have adults with autism referred to me regularly for Time Line Therapy® as it is so visual. Time Line Therapy® is perfect for children and adults with autism as they are such visual thinkers, and the beautiful, descriptive, predictable language patterns of both, Time Line Therapy® and Hypnosis, make following what to do, easy! Best of all, every time I use Time Line Therapy® to clear a negative emotion or limiting belief, the script is the same, which really suits their need for sameness. Incorporating NLP, Time Line Therapy®, Hypnosis and NLP Coaching in to my everyday practice, saw my work recognized and applauded with the “Educator of Excellence” award for 2014/15.

Transforming the planet using NLPcoaching.com sounds like a big ask, but if you break it down to transforming one person at a time, starting with yourself, it is doable. After all, I was just a teacher.
