Critical Thinking – Can it Really Change My Reality? NLP and Time Line Therapy® Can Help – Part 2

Identify, Compare, Analyse and Decide

  1. Identify incoming stimuli and data via V,A,K,O,G

The NLP Communications Model – External information comes into the neurology via the five senses.

  1. Compare incoming data to stored memory

Comparing incoming data to stored memory – we cannot tend to things that aren’t already in the nervous system. Or we cannot speak where we do not have awareness. So it seems to me that we compare incoming data with the data in our nervous system to create a starting point for analysis. “I’m experiencing ‘X’ now, compared to ‘Y’ in my past.” (Sounds like a starting point for mapping to me!)

  1. Analysis – Analyse data

Analysis frames:

Below is a list of some common analysis frames. Analysing these areas of incoming information in your day to day life and see how much you can find out about the world around you

  • Invalid assumptions
  • Unproven hypotheses
  • Irrelevant statements and evidence
  • Logical fallacies
  • Flawed understanding
  • Excessively narrow subject focus
  • Poor data collection methods
  • Lack of evidence to support conclusions
  • Lack of current data
  • Validity of the conclusions
  • Exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims
  • Wrongly placed causation

Consciously we deduce fact from false one thought at a time and its here that a person can engage critical thinking to serve them well as a gatekeeper and authority to their unconscious mind. At this point the reticular activating system (RAS) or Extrathalamic Control Modulatory System that deals with yes or no information is being utilized with the sort process of one thought at a time and is composed of several neuronal circuits connecting the brainstem to the cortex. The RAS is modulated by complex interactions between a few main neurotransmitters. The RAS contains both cholinergic and adrenergic components, which exhibit synergistic as well as competitive actions to regulate thalamocortical activity and the corresponding behavioural states.

Now here’s the thing! I bet you that the few main neurotransmitters present in the neural pathways of the RAS are greatly influence by or even completely constructed from the already stored information at the unconscious level! If so, how do we influence the encoding of the few main neurotransmitters working in the RAS? By transforming the belief system, the information stored at the unconscious level! If the cholinergic and adrenergic components in the RAS are reacting with competitive actions signalling a “no” or reject, yet the incoming data would actually serve the person well, then there may simply be some issues to clear up at the unconscious level. Now, Time Line Therapy® makes this change an easy process!

Time Line Therapy® assists a person to clear out negative emotions and old limiting beliefs that no longer serve them well or may just be plain false. Could creating a well formed memory bank of data with well-informed beliefs in turn create well-formed thought patterns and change a person’s reality? YES! Could these critical components assist with increasing a person’s choices and enable them to make well informed decisions that will support and serve them well? YES again!

  1. Choices & Decisions

Decisions (conscious and unconscious) are kind of like the seeds of belief because the decision always precedes the belief.  The belief system is connected to our values system which highly generalizes upon the stored beliefs to determine and generate our behaviours such as the way we live our lives, what motivates us to act in our lives, the directions we decide to take, the ways we think, our patterns of thought!

Before deciding to accept or reject incoming data, it may be a good idea to assess the value of that data to you personally before you commence with further investigations. Once a person decides to accept the data and its model the suspension of disbelief occurs. The model is then accepted and stored at the unconscious level and will be used for comparison to incoming data and external stimuli in the future as well as generating behaviours. Deciding to accept or reject data and its models (suggestions) concludes with a process of suspending disbelief or enforcing it.

Decide to begin thinking critically now and investigate more for yourself! Don’t just believe what you read here because it’s better than what you know now. Investigate further for yourself those things that catch your interest, until then all other information is either just gossip or hearsay, isn’t it?  Maybe you already think critically and you would like to improve and expand your critical thinking skills and resources? I know the more I research Critical Thinking the more I notice the many convoluted shades of well formed analytic investigation specifically designed to the needs of its field and areas of application.

In essence we could say that NLP is a result of critical thinking and it will most likely be found that any dedicated NLP learning initiate will inevitably model the very patterns of critical thinking that initially consolidated the field and profession. Critical Thinking could even be seen as a study of reasonable consequence and it makes sense for anybody to become well informed with their choices if they want to make reasonable decisions that bring about a positive and supportive consequence to their lives.

Critical Thinking is useful for becoming well informed prior to decision making. It assists in identifying false data and can clarify a person’s perception with a certain amount of merited insight and understanding.
