Getting rid of an unwanted behavior can take as little as ten minutes. Using a simple NLP technique called “Swish” can make unwanted minor states disappear and get the desired results with the least effort. The first article, NLP Hint – Doing This Will Make Your Swish Pattern Not Work by Dr Adriana James, outlines how Swish is a quick fix as a pattern interrupt. However, the techniques used in this process need to be specific and complex to work! How do you know when to stop biting your nails? There is a trigger! Find the trigger of the beginning of that behavior and using swish… you will stop biting your nails! This is a previously archived article. We are re publishing it to demonstrate the intensity of using a quick fix technique to disrupt an unwanted pattern. The second article, The Power of Tasking, Chris Lianos demonstrates how using the skills and techniques of NLP in helping your close friends and family needs to have investment from the client. If a friend or family member has an issue or problem they would like to overcome and they turn to you for help, you have the tools learnt through NLP to assist them. But first, you need to establish a client relationship with them. This may seem tricky if you are offering your services for free, with no investment from the client. A simple yet powerful tool can gain the client’s commitment to their own healing: TASKING!

NLP Hint – Doing This Will Make Your Swish Pattern Not Work by Dr. Adriana James
Just when you thought you’d learned everything there was to learn about how to do a Swish Pattern, the very-useful quick fix NLP pattern, new questions arise from people who do not get the desired results.
In answer to some of your questions about how to make it work all the time and dispel confusion about visual or auditory Swish, here are some answers which hopefully will assist you in the correct understanding.
It May Have an Auditory Trigger, But Swish Pattern Is A Visual Process.
Swish is a pattern belonging to the broad submodalities category in NLP. It’s a quick fix, meaning that you don’t have to inquire a lot about the client’s personal history or have a lot of content-data in order to assist the client.
This does not diminish its usefulness. However there are a few key points the NLPCoach needs to keep in mind when attempting to do it with a client and also when an NLP trainer teaches it to his or her students.
The Power of Tasking by Chris Lianos
She was my fourth client straight out of my Master Practitioner training.
And she was a friend.
I had already broken one of the cardinal rules – “Never work with friends unless you have a client relationship.” And I didn’t have one.
Not only was she a good friend, she was my wife’s best friend.
I was stuck. I had to help.
The presenting problem was an attachment to an old leg injury. My friend didn’t want to let it go. She had fallen quite badly and broken her leg.
The leg had healed. Her memory of the problem was still very much alive.
She complained of continual limping and always double checking where she was walking. She leaned on other people when she got out of the car and held onto the hand rails on stairs. She walked slower than she needed to. These were her explanations.
When I finished my Master Practitioner, I reached out to all my friends and offered my services. I wanted to help. And she took me up on it.
She visited our home to have a free consultation.
She expected a process. I did too. I expected to start a breakthrough session that night, to take a personal history. And then I remembered something Tad and Adriana shared. When there is little or no investment by the client, the results are uncertain.
The solution was tasking…
